General Guidelines

People come to Cat Grooming Directory to find and connect with great local cat grooming businesses. We know that people won't always agree, but we expect everyone on the site to treat one another and the platform with honesty and respect. We've put together these general guidelines to help set the tone for discourse on the site. Please also read the additional guidelines below for specific types of content that you might contribute to the site.

Relevance: Please make sure your contributions are appropriate to the forum. For example, reviews aren't the place for rants about political ideologies, a business's employment practices, extraordinary circumstances, or other matters that don't address the core of the consumer experience with the grooming service.

Inappropriate content: Colorful language and imagery are fine, but there's no place for threats, harassment, lewdness, hate speech, or other displays of bigotry.

Conflicts of interest: Your contributions to Cat Grooming Directory should be unbiased and objective. For example, you shouldn't write reviews of your own business or employer, your friends' or relatives' business, your peers or competitors in the grooming industry, or businesses in your networking group. Businesses should never ask customers to write reviews.

Privacy: Don't publicize people's private information. For instance, don't post other people's full names unless you're referring to someone who is commonly referred to by their full name. Don't share personal contact information, home addresses, or any other private details about groomers, staff, or other customers.

Promotional content: Don't post promotional material unless it's in connection with a Cat Grooming Directory advertising product and through a Business Account. Let's keep the site useful for cat owners and not overrun with commercial noise from every user.

Post your own content: Don't swipe content from other sites, users, or businesses. Write your own copy and share only your own experiences. This also means you shouldn't use chatbots or other AI tools to create reviews, including using such tools to draft or revise your reviews.

Review Guidelines

The best reviews are personal, passionate, and reflect your consumer experience. They offer a rich narrative, a wealth of detail, and a helpful tip or two for other cat owners. Here are some additional thoughts for conscientious reviewers:

Personal experience: We want to hear about your firsthand experience with the grooming service, not what you heard from your partner or co-worker, or what you saw online. Tell your own story without resorting to broad generalizations and conclusory allegations. Share details about your cat's experience — how the groomer handled your cat, the quality of the grooming, and how your cat looked and felt afterward.

Accuracy: Make sure your review is factually correct. Feel free to air your opinions, but don't exaggerate or misrepresent your experience. We don't take sides when it comes to factual disputes, so we expect you to stand behind your review.

Demanding payment: Writing a review should be informative and meant to help the broader Cat Grooming Directory community. You should not threaten to post or offer to remove a negative review as a way to extract payment from a business.

Review updates: Review updates should reflect a new experience or interaction with the grooming business. Don't keep posting about the same old story you've already told. If you'd like to add new insight to an old experience, you can edit your review within 30 days of posting it.

Cat-specific details encouraged: We encourage reviewers to include helpful details such as their cat's breed, temperament, coat type, and the specific services received. This information helps other cat owners determine if a groomer is right for their pet.

Quality standards: Only top-rated salons make the cut on Cat Grooming Directory. We continuously monitor reviews and remove groomers who don't meet our quality standards. Your honest reviews help us maintain the quality of our directory.

Photo Guidelines

Photos on Cat Grooming Directory are managed differently for businesses and customers to ensure quality and relevance.

For Businesses

Grooming businesses may upload photos to their listing to showcase their services and facility. Here are some things to keep in mind:

Show your work: Upload photos that showcase your grooming results, your facility, your team, and what makes your business unique. Before-and-after grooming photos are especially helpful for cat owners evaluating your services.

Keep it relevant: Photos should be directly related to your cat grooming business and services. Show us your grooming space, your equipment, happy feline clients (with owner permission), and the quality of your work.

Keep it clean: We don't want imagery of violence, animal distress, or anything that could be disturbing to viewers. Photos should present your business in a professional and welcoming light.

Keep it honest: Photos should accurately represent your business and services. Don't use stock photos or images from other businesses. Only upload photos that you have the right to use.

Respect privacy: If photos include customers or their pets, make sure you have their permission before uploading. Don't include personal information visible in photos (e.g., license plates, addresses, etc.).

For Customers

Customers may not upload photos directly to business listings. If you'd like to share a photo related to your grooming experience, you may include it as part of your written review. This policy helps ensure that all photos on business listings are accurate, high-quality, and relevant representations uploaded by the businesses themselves.

Business Response Guidelines

If you're a grooming business listed on Cat Grooming Directory, you have the ability to respond to reviews. Here are some guidelines:

Be professional: Always respond in a professional and courteous manner, even to negative reviews. Your response reflects your business and how you handle customer concerns.

Be constructive: Use your response to address specific concerns raised in the review. Offer solutions or explain what steps you've taken to improve. This shows potential customers that you care about their experience.

Don't retaliate: Never threaten, harass, or disparage a reviewer. Don't attempt to identify anonymous reviewers or take actions against customers for leaving honest reviews.

Don't solicit review changes: Don't ask reviewers to change or remove their reviews in exchange for refunds, discounts, or other incentives.

Keep it relevant: Your response should address the content of the review. Don't use responses as an opportunity to advertise promotions, attack competitors, or post unrelated content.
